Explore the story

The Road That Made Kingdoms Rich

Frankincense began in southern Arabia, but it didn’t stay there.

For centuries, caravans carried the resin across the desert toward markets thousands of miles away, passing through trading cities and kingdoms along the way.

By the time it reached the ancient world’s great cities, this small piece of tree resin had become one of its most prized goods.

But the Incense Road carried more than incense.

People traveled it too, bringing stories, ideas, traditions, and pieces of home with them.

Travel the road with us and see what connections you make along the way.
